Graham Windham Reconstructed Residential Treatment Centers

Graham-Windham Services for children is located in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.  It houses 162 children ranging in age from seven to nineteen.

The forty-two acre campus was planned in 1893.  Seven cottages were meant to house 162 children in a dormitory setting, but over the years the buildings became deteriorated.

Reconstruction of the cottages provided a mix of single and double rooms, to better meet the programmatic requirements of the children.  The gang toilets and showers have been eliminated and replaced by private bathrooms. The large parlor rooms on the ground floor have been subdivided to provide a variety of program spaces including a family counseling room, living room, study rooms, and participatory kitchen.
