Frances Schervier HomeTwo New Mid-Rise Long Term Care Wings

This venerable seventy-three year old institution is located on seven beautiful acres overlooking the Hudson River in Riverdale, New York.  This skilled nursing facility serves an aging population with almost half of the residents coping with Alzheimers.

The renovation and reconstruction transformed FSHH in several fundamental ways: it eliminated all shared rooms; it created “unit identity” with decentralized support, and it equally distributed dining, lounge and family spaces.

The solution creates a new garden and entry court at grade, and positions therapeutic spaces on the Hudson River side.

All of the resident rooms are variations on semi-private suites where each bed has its own window.  Some room models have a shared bathroom between the two bedrooms, offering a higher level of privacy.
