This new 215 bed, six story, skilled nursing center transforms a highway-bounded site into a community oasis and garden. This is the first phase of a campus plan which includes housing and community outreach services.
A primary objective is privacy for all residents. Private bedrooms have showers and semi-private suites have separate, windowed bedrooms.
A second objective is to offer highly varied settings for dining, recreational and clinical services on each floor. The first floor’s eclectic blend of contemporary, green flooring materials and sophisticated program offerings add what a diverse, urban community expects.
The third objective is to create a memorable silhouette which “does not look like a nursing home.” The principles of active façade design are utilized with solar orientation at the resident rooms and shaded glass storefronts at the common spaces. The richly variegated, three color brick and precast banding on the exterior creates a memorable, midrise skyline. |
