Winchendon Dining Commons New Dining Commons and Student Center

The Winchendon School is a college preparatory, boarding school founded in 1926.

The private school moved to Winchendon, Massachusetts in 1963 and purchased a historic inn structure, called the “Toy Town Tavern” on a hilltop golf course.  The older structure had charm, but did not meet the critical programmatic and life safety requirements of the school.

In 2000-2001, the school embarked on two major projects: first, the creation of a student commons/dining wing attached to the structure, and second, the renovation of the original structure as a student lounge, administrative center, and residence hall.  This small, but complex, addition and renovation, was phased over two academic years and one summer to allow for continuous student and faculty occupancy.
